Armani - A Family

As she sits on the potty...
Armani: Mom! Look! I made a family! (as she refers to her poops in the potty)
Days later...
Me: Armani, are you finished? Do you need to go more? You just have a little tiny poop.
Armani: Ya, I'm done, he doesn't want to be with his Mommy and Daddy.

hahahahhahahahah
Mani, you crack me up!

Love you,
Mom

Matthew and Armani - Armani's first haricut

Ok, its taken me a while to make light of this topic, but I think after a few weeks I feel more in control of my emotions and I could'nt let this incident go unnoted.

It was midnight, an intersting evening actually. I had put you both to bed and for once neither one of you got out of your bed to ask for water or food, or to go pee, or to "put the blankets over my head" (Armani), or to say goodnight to Daddy or brother (Armani, the queen of excuses why not to stay in bed). Nothing it was silence and i was naively enjoying it. So like I said, midnight rolls around and I shimmy off to bed and as I walk up the stairs, I notice both of your lights are on in your rooms and I wonder wow that's strange, I haven't heard them all night. So, I open you door Armani, since I can hear you kind of upset over something, and as I push open the door I see you, Matthew, with scissors in hand and a haircut that looks similar but worse than Jim Carey's haircut on Dumb and Dumber. Then my focus goes to you, Armani, scissors also in hand, and your new do that looks like a mullet....and then I pretty much lost it! At the top of my lungs I yelled, "Whaaaatttt did youuuuu doooooooooo!!!!!! Mainly focusing my eyes on you Matthew because after all, you are a year older and should know better! Then I realize that if I stay in the room one more second I may do something crazy, so I turn around and run down the stairs to the garage, where your father is installing shelves (which I later realize is why I never heard a peep), open the door and yell, "come see what your children have done!" "You have to deal with them because I cannot contain myself!" So he runs up stairs to see what all the fuss is about and sees the both of you with a doe eyed bambie look, like please dont kill us.

He delt with you, while I dramatically sat in Armani's room head in hands thinking what am I going to do with your hair Armani....I know, so shallow, but Armani, your hair is just so beautiful, we had not cut it yet and it was long and you had these beautiful blonde wringlet curls and they were all gone, your brother had done you a massive hack job, and you him, but of course he is a boy, and as much as I love his hair long, it will grow back and he can sport short if necessary, but that was three years of growth for you Armani, and I would never cut your hair this short on any normal basis.

Anyways, we were able to get you in the Hair Lounge (where we all get our hair cut) and get Rick to fix both your heads as best he could. Sadly, Marv our regular stylist and family friend was not in the salon that Saturday (which I was kinda hoping he'd be the first to cut your hair Armani, but I guess Rick really was'nt the first either, it was Matthew, so whatever..... Actually looking back on this...Im still not taking this as lightly as I thought.

So thats the story, I know one day I will read back on this and laugh or at least grin... Oh and Armani, you are the culprit here...after some investigation, I noticed that you had made a muck out of your room and emptied all of your drawers, ultimately coming across your cuticle scissors, went to go show Matthew, cut his hair in his room, then Matthew, you retrieved your cuticle scissors and went to Armani's room and cut her hair. And of course both of you peas in a pod did not refuse the other and were having the grandest time as usual....and that does make me smile...always.....you all are Best Friends and we are blessed at how well you get along, but I'll save that happy thought for another post.

Still love you both,
Mom

Matthew - My Fearless Son

Just about anything you do, you approach it with no fear...I love it! You obviously get this trait from your Father, because I am usually pretty content in my own safe little bubble. But not you sir! You are a wild man!

Just a couple recent activities.....Diving into a pool at the age of 4 and swimming under water, no problema! Riding sheep bustin out of the gate at the fair, "hey they are soft Daddy, I can do that"! Shooting guns out in the woods with Dad, just as long as you can shoot his 9mm, you're in!

You have some serious LIFE running through those veins and you want to do it ALL! Well, all except be a part of the dolphin show at Sea World in San Diego (only your mother's childhood dream for years!)....ya I won't be letting you live that one down :)

Love you Son,
Mommy

Armani - "I love you Mommy"

Every time we say I love you, you always tell us, "I love you Mommy" or "I love you Daddy". You never just say I love you, you always say our names after you say it. I LOVE it! It just sounds so sweet, so meaningful, so personal, so engaged. Thank you for giving me such warm fuzzies :)
I love you Armani.

Armani - "Hey Mommy, Can I tewl you a secwet?"

Lately you have been doing the cutest little thing. Apparently you have a different idea of what a secret is than what it really is :)

"Hey Mommy, Can I tewl you a secwet?" "Yes Armani, what is it?" Then you approach me, get really close to my ear, and then stay there for a few seconds, then back off...without saying a word to me. It is so funny!

You are really big into telling secrets right now, you pretty much ask everyone if you can tell them a secret, and then proceed to say nothing. I think its clear that you have seen movies, a show, or your brother, whispering in another persons ear, and since you can't hear them say anything, you think they aren't saying anything.

I love you Manni!

Matthew - More than a Conqueror

Every night when I say prayers with you and your sister, somewhere along the prayer I pray that you are "More Than A Conqueror"... along with other confessions of course. This morning as I was trying to get myself ready and you and Mani ready, you came up to me, hugged my leg and said, "Mom, I love you More Than A Conquoo!"

After my heart melted...I taught you how to say the word correctly, and then taught you what it meant. :)

I love you son ... more than a conqueror!

Matthew - A Poop Prayer

yesterday afternoon, you had asked me if you could go up stairs and brush your teeth. we had just had lunch and we were all in the living room talking....i said yes and didn't go up with you to help you cuz i recently found out that you could climb up our bathroom counter by yourself.

a few minutes went by and I had'nt heard anything from you, so I went upstairs to see what you were up to ... hoping that our bathroom was still intact and that i wouldn't find toothpaste all over the mirror...i start to tip toe quietly because i can hear you talking...but you are not on the bathroom counter, you are in the "watercloset" sitting on the potty praying to God. I'm not exactly sure how long you were praying, but this is what i heard you say, "And God, thank you for helping me get all of this yucky stuff out of me (long pause)....ok, ok, You can go now God I'm done." And you were saying it in the most sincere way. (Come to find out you were asking Him to leave because it was stinky....Ha!) Then you called for me to help clean you up and I asked, "Matthew, were you praying?" and you said, "yes, and God helped me to get the poop out all by myself, see mom God helped me." and i said, "yes, God helps us when we ask him to, He answers our prayers." and you said, "yes mom, God helps us."

it was sooo sweet and so cute and so sincere! and I was so proud of you for not pooping your pants and putting yourself on that potty all by yourself to get the yucky stuff out, because God (and everyone else) only knows how long we've been working on this milestone with you :)

Love you,
Mommy
